Global OLPC - comment challenge day 14

Tēnā koutou katoa
Welcome to you all
I’ve been reading a lot about the OLPC project.

As I understood it, the computer (which originally was to cost $100) was for kids in the developing world.

I have often raised the idea in forums that such a computer (let’s say it is here with all its bells and whistles – forget about the software!) would be great for every kid in every school globally. Supposing some benevolent billionaire supplied one to every child throughout the globe, what would your take on this be?

Nga mihi nui
Best wishes

Interesting idea. I keep wondering if it is the computer, or the internet it gives us access to, that would be truly transformational.

Ta Christine.

It's the networking that it permits that people seem to enthuse over. The original design had a built-in feature for networking with others. Also, Internet access within a working network is no problem for it is wireless.
