With each new invention in communication comes a possible revolution in education.

I recall when 'overhead projector' was a buzz-word in education. Sure, it was very useful. I used one to teach physics to senior students. I couldn't do without it. Not.

But then the computer appeared on the horizon. Then the Internet.

I watch my children, and learn a lot from them. I learn that they are just like how I was when slide rules with log-log scale became the up-to-date top-of-the-line way to go and calculators with illuminated displays were 'something else'.

There's more enthusiasm from the generation that Tapscott came from than the generation my children belong to. For them, it's just slide rules with log-log scale all over again.

It's comforting to know that they'll be alright. Just like you and I are today.

Catchya laterBlogger In Middle-earthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08722634477041121797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2107060758629396184.post-53849396708029009782009-04-08T05:34:00.000-07:002009-04-08T05:34:00.000-07:00Hi Ken,Thanks for the link to Tapscott's video. A...Hi Ken,
Thanks for the link to Tapscott's video. Author of Growing Up Digital ten years ago, he coined the phrase 'Net Generation.' Now, his Grown Up Digital, allows him to analyze the first generation to come of age in the digital age. He is also author of Wikinomics and is a leading business strategist.

This video would certainly stimulate discussion in a high school class. 'How can we change the learning experience and, in doing so, reinvent education?' I think schools are making definite progress in answering that question.Paul Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01836602667355512504noreply@blogger.com
